Successful multicultural companies Finland
Successful multicultural companies were awarded last night (5th October 2017) by the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment at the Successful Multicultural Company Awards. The goal of the awards was to highlight organisations that have been successful in embracing multiculturalism and diversity and the importance of these factors in internationalisation and successful international business.
Finland is very aware of its need for more international talent in order to continue to be competitive on the global stage. A diverse workforce forms the basis for a firm platform for new operating models, best practices, developing business and growth. The winning companies are an excellent example of the benefits a diverse workforce brings regardless of the sector.
The winning companies are:
- < 50 employees category Huone Events Hotel Ltd
- 50 - 250 employees category JS Suomi Ltd
- > 250 employees category WSP Finland Ltd
A special mention was awarded to BlueFors Cryogenics Ltd for an exemplary attitude in developing diversity and translating specialisation into an international business.
The competition was based on one of the biggest diversity studies in Finland carried out by Hofstede Insights with 45 participating companies and close to 2000 individual respondents. “In the processing of the results, we took into account the industry sector when determining the optimal culture and the response rate. Furthermore, we put additional weights on those dimensions which are related to openness and diversity acceptance. Additional criteria involved the financial health of the organisation and future orientation”, said Egbert Schram, Group CEO of Hofstede Insights.
